almoço saudável

healthy lunch

"-Mãe! Hoje vou fazer um almoço saudável."
E fez!
Estranhei a combinação.
Provou e gostou! :)
Fica aqui a sugestão.
"Mom! Today I will make a healthy lunch."
And she did!
Milk bread milk with cheese and apple, and raw carrot.
Strange combination. I asked her if he was sure about that, if I wanted to taste a little first.
She did and liked it! :)
Here's the sugestion.

Parque do Bonfim

Bonfim's Park

Bonfim's Park (Setúbal) is different. It's more beautiful, more alive. Now it has swans and ducks on the lake again. And it seems the Library is going to be right in the midle of all this beauty. Can't wait!
We went there this weekend. M. wanted to hunt tadpoles again, but this time We convinced her that it would be better to let the little one return to its environment so that he could continue with his life. She got a bit sad, but behaved well and agreed that it would be the best thing to do. We looked through the herbs to see if there was any frog or something, and we found a species of mouse, which can be seen in two photos of the mosaic above. I am not sure what kind of animal it is, but we named it "country mouse". It was so tiny and cute. It would be no bigger than a phalanx of my thumb, but with a thin and long tail. Me and M. fell in love with it.

The photos were, once again, taken with the celular phone, hence the poor quality. But you can tell the tadpole in the bucket, yet with a tail, but already with small paws.

Zezinho: o espermatozóide!

Will: the sperm!

After the fantastic experience of catching tadpoles in the park with her grandmother, the reaction of M. to the view of this book cover in the Library, was excited: "Look mom, a book about tadpoles!". I explained that it was not the case. It was not a tadpole but a sperm. So we decided to bring the book to read it better at home. Although, at the time, an adventure of Winx looked more appealing: "It's that I already know how babies are made." - Justified M.. But I mannaged to convince her.

Already at home at bedtime reading, I was (and I believe she was as well) delighted with the way this book shows us and explains how babies are made. In a very fun way, without taboos, but also not too explicit, it explains how fertilization occurs. Since a real city in Mr. Nuno's testicles...

... to the preparation of the Great Swimming Competition (with treasure maps and all)...

... to the competition (referring that Mr. Nuno and Mrs. Alice have to come together) and finally fertilization itself, with visual explanation of the magic that happens inside the egg and the subsequent effect of the visible growth in the belly of Mrs. Alice.

As the final note, I see only one point less positive, indeed, even negative is the more correct word, in the text of this book. The author, Nicholas Allan, decided that Will would not be particularly intelligent or interested in school. The bottom line is that even without being brilliant at studies would have another talent. And the girl that resulted from fertilization, maintained these characteristics of the sperm that led to her. Also giving the child to understand that many traits are passed from parents to children in the "genetic load". I understand that we must give children the idea that everyone has their talent, whatever it is, not emphasizing one talent over another. But devalue the importance of school for children of preschool or early school, the audience for this book, seems downright dangerous and inappropriate. Could have got another point of comparison, like this for instance: Will is not very good at playing football but on the other hand is a fantastic swimmer.
In any case is a
very appealing explanation of fertilization.

Another case of good explanation of this matter and that brings me to another issue that seems to go half-forgotten: the sex education in school.

mais|more... eco-packages!

These eco-pachages were already here to be shown for so long. It's now time for them to see the light of the blog! :)
These, with children's motives, served as a package for anniversary souvenirs for a few of M.'s friends. The two girls received a birdies (here and here) to use as a broche. And the boy, was entitled to a keychain of Spiderman.
Very simple to make, is one more suggestion of wrapping with recycled packages. You know how I like these little packets. I still use them whenever possible in Bem-Trapilho orders. You can see them, for example, here and here.

O
Another type of eco-packaging I have done, are these paper bags, hand painted with watercolors. Presented them here ages ago, with the "soon" label, but that "soon" spread and only now I remembered the show them. Here they are:

... Gostei mais deles sem cor.
... I liked them better without color.

And now, just one more word for those who I usually visit me. It isn't a period of good feeling here. At school we went to the same as last year. Time, as usual, is scarce and now the will decreased. Tou know how I like to keep a daily cadence, or almost, here at the blog, and I haven't being achieving that... for a long time. So sorry for the lack of visits to your blogs too. I'll take a bit long, certainly, but I will not fail! :)
I count always on your good feeling here. Thank you very much!

lição de história

history lesson

M.: Batatas?
Eu: Batatas?!... Achas?
M.: Esta mais gorda parece uma batata.
Eu: E as outras parecem o quê?
M.: Uma bolacha e a outra parece vidro.
E sabes quem as fez?
Eu: Exactamente!
Looking at the cover of the cultural agenda of Sesimbra this month, I remembered to ask her:
- Do you know what this is?
M.: Potatoes?
I: Potatoes ?!... Do you think so?
M.: This one lookes like a potato.
I: And the others seem what?
M.: A cracker and the other appears to be made out of glass.
(It's that she sometimes likes to play dumb. I knew she knew more than that. She is particularly interested in the prehistory and we see some books once in a while on the subject. And if she was expecting me to give her the answer, she could continue to wait, but sitting down!... Not to get too tired.)
Me: And you know what they are?
M.: Spears to kill animals?
Me: Yes, very well! And you know who made them?
M.: The cavemen?
Me: Yes, see how you know!
M: And how they carved the way?
Me: They hit them with other stones, with precision, so that they are such sharp blades. This time is called the Stone Age.
M.: Because they did things with stones?
Me: Exactly!

And by the way, I saw this collection of books that did not know yet, Princesa Carlota Quebra-cabeças (Princess Charlotte Puzzles). I bought her two of them, because besides the story writen in large caracters and a light text (which makes the first solo readings easier), each page has a proposal for a puzzle, for example finding the wood, rope and stone hidden in the image, to make a pre-historic spear. These puzzles promote concentration, which is always welcome.

Obrigada!
I want to thank Serenity the stamp that she ofered to my blog. Tank you!

Have you seen the BEM-TRAPILHO NEWS? Bracelet or necklace? Discover for yourself in the catalog!

Quanto ao comportamento e maturidade, so far so good! Continua com um comportamento constante e coerente. Estou pasma, acreditem!
Yesterday, at the Library, the game was playing house. M. was the mother, the other girl and the boy, the children. I got a grandson and a granddaughter. :) Good to see her play with other children concerted, with logical and all determined to make it work.
Today, we talked some more about the multi-universes that she suggested yesterday, to see where this idea came from. I came to no conclusion. Well... ideas of a smart one! :)
Even today, visibly tired, she insisted on going to the gymnastics. There she was, did it half-committed, but she got home very much satisfied.
About her behavior and maturity, so far so good! Continues with a constant and consistent behavior. I am amazed, believe me! It seems that there was a kind of click in her little head, and everything changed from one day to another. I remain astounded and incredulous, afraid to wake up from this dream. The peace that has been in this house!...

gosto de ti...

love you...

Primeiro lemos a história.
[banda sonora a propósito do tema]
First we read the story. After that, we talk about it.
M.: I love you 'till another galaxy!
I: Oh my... but that is quite much!... And I love you 'till around the universe and back up here again.
M.: Ahhh... (with shiny
eyes, as if she was to say: "Now how am I going to get something further?") I love you beyond all universes and back to the lava in the center of the Earth, and up until the desert!
I: Ohh, that's it really much! I can not think of anything further than that.

More concentrated... More grown... Even with her moments of irrational childish, but finally... I see a few improvements! Let's see...
But her blog hasn't been updated. I think everyone understands that now time has been less for her as for me.

Miss Mum and Miss Doughter and their jewelery! :)
Well, here we are, with our jewelery. I made a necklace similar to this one that I love and earrings almost nearly equal to these ones. She has her orange earrings (you can see them in the mosaic below) and hairpin with a little doll (also below, to see it better) I offered by her anniversary.

For a long time, she asked me for earrings. I bought her a few, but she insisted in getting a pair made by me. As you know, children's jewelery is not my specialty. And earrings I thing I had never done before. But I caught myself with my hands on it, and I used up some beads that I had for some time. I could not resist to buy them but then I did almost nothing with them, except for closures of these necklaces, and more recently this and this earring. The result were these nine, yes you've read it well, NINE pairs of earrings!

3 em 1

3 in 1

Everything is right to put this girl to work! These hobby booklets are valid for getting her to read, write and lose resistance to anything that has letters in it, which she associates with school work. She already reads quite well, writes very reasonably, but she is stubborn as only she can be. She decided that does not like to work and there!... It's decided!!! But now I notice that she's more open to the subjects of the second year. Was it that she did not feel estimulated by the bases? Was the repetitive nature of the exercises of the first year that bored her so that she did not even want to pick up the pencil. Am I finally managing to tame the beast? Is it a greater maturity in her little head?

In the kitchen, so far there are two places dedicated to craft works! (here's the first) Soon I'll have to put the pots in the street, because the cabinets will not fit! :) I tried to arrange my little corner on the attic, but I just don't work there. Suits me better in the kitchen.

M.: You can not come in!
Me: Dear, I have to go in the kitchen. What are you doing?
M.: It is a surprise! You can not see it yet.
Me: Are you going to take long?
M.: Yes. To get it right, I'll have to work calmly.
Well, I'm glad she finaly realized that if you engage in what you are doing, the thing comes out better.
I waited until she called me to see the surprise. It was this box to store handicrafts
materials, decorated with a drawing.
I was delighted, because he remembered to put a plastic guard on the towel, also plastic, so it wouldn't get all dirty.

O que será o futuro da humanidade?

What will be the future of humanity?

["Severn Suzuki" da Organização das Crianças em Defesa do Meio Ambiente, durante a ECO 92 - Conferência das Nações Unidas para o Meio Ambiente e o Desenvolvimento.]
["Severn Suzuki" from Organization of the Children in Defense of the Environment, during the ECO 92 - United Nations Conference on Environment and Development.]

Preocupa-me a extinção da Humanidade. A Natureza agradece!
This intervention came as a slap in the face of a lot of adults. There didn't seems however to have had much effect. So we have to jog their memory. Let us hear what Severn Suzuki has to say to humanity, as many times as necessary to internalize the message.
I remember a documentary in form of entertainment program, I saw on TV, I was about twelve years old, and that kept me awake a lot of nights, thinking about the atrocities that we were doing to our planet. I can not remember the name of the program, but I remember the sense of urgency to save the planet in my mind.
But also in my case, time had this blurring effect. The years passed, I was doing my part, some days more than others, not always... for convenience, for lack of time, for this and for that... But it seems that just doing our part is not enough.
I am concerned about the extinction of humanity. I do not think that it is the extinction of Earth that is in stake here. I do not know if many people have realized that. It may seem a selfish point of view, but this is perhaps what is missing for Humanity (especially those who have more power in this matter) to change their attitude. The Earth will probably manage to cure itself, preferably without humans to unbalance things and annihilate other species of animals and plants. The problem is us, humans, which are so indulgent, greedy and stupid, we destroy our "chiken that lays golden eggs". We act as thieves, who came to the Earth and stole stole stole, without caring for the destruction of what was not ours. We have acted as thieves, and dumb ones, because we never understood that when it's all destoied we'll disappear, we have no way of surviving then, because we stole so unbridled, uncontrolled, reckless... Without learning to create what we need. We just took. Because we had no fear that "the owner" would come to complain, there is no police who can punish us for what we have been doing. What we did not realize, we the supposedly only form of intelligent life in the universe, is that our greed will be our police. Seeing the documentary Home led me to a better understanding of the mismanagement that we are doing with our "stealing". Even to be a "thief" you need to use intelligence and logic. It we take, as least it should only be in the quantities strictly necessary, and do not forget that we must give something in return. In other words, change the verb "steal" to "share/exchange" but in fair quantities. That's what was supposed to have happened since the beginning of humanity. But we, intelligent beings, never noticed that! I guess Nature has not calculated, when it allowed us to be, that intelligent species were so stupid! Now it is simple, it just leaves us with our stupidity, and we'll drive ourselves to extinction. Nature thanks us! It's just a matter of universal equilibrium!
We should all see the beauty of another documentary. Just to see what we have to lose.
And this other very interesting site on the subject.

as três festas da princesa

the princess and her three parties

"Yeeyhhh, this year I had three birthday parties!" - she says, all happy. :) Since it was supposed not to be any...!
As I said, this year the idea was not to throw a proper birthday party, those traditional birthday parties, and it was to celebrate with a lot of fun but without the usual confusion here at home. In short we were supposed to go to Kidzania (initially the idea was to go to the Warner Brothers Theme Park in Madrid, but we changed our minds, as indeed we do a lot!!!). The result: big fun in Kidzania on Saturday, a small party for family on Sunday and another mini-party for her friends of the library yesterday! :) And she is radiant with the idea of having three little parties. She ended up having the same rituals as if she had the traditional party, but for me it was much less laborious and tiring. The ritual that she likes best is preparating the gifts to give her friends.

This year she chose My Melody as a theme to decorate the bags.

Edited, printed, cut, pasted and stuff the bags with a lot of sweets and a small fun book with educational activities (which you can see in the image below).

É a minha inspiração do momento.
And you can see more details of this work in the catalog. Speaking of the catalog, I do not know if everyone has seen the creations inspired by the beach that I put there lately. It is my inspiration at the moment. I know I probably should have been inspired by it before for better sales during the summer, but I'm like this and have to be truthfull to my inspirations, so I could not reflect in my creations something that did not make sense at the time.

With all these tasks, we have not had time to post updates on the princess's blog . But ideas are not lacking. Once there is time you will see there a lot of news! :)

To start, a song that has nothing to do with this post's theme, but just because it amuses me.

I found some advice on home organization in a blog that I quite like: projectos 3r. I am really in need, but from what I read I still do not realize how can I do such a change to meet them! I'd love it! I swear I would! But I just do not know how. :( Basically it says that if we keep to much stuff at home, those things that we love to keep, not because they're necessary but because we simply can not throw them away, leaves us stuck in the past, tired, confused, and make us lose time and money. It could not be more right! I belive! But the first change must come from within. And how does one change that much? I am one of those who do not like to throw anything away. And believe me I have improved a lot through the years and with becoming a mother. But it is still not enough. I need to change urgently! HeLP! I have to internalize this idea very well. Once I do it I know it will be a radical change, not knowing if it's forever (I'd like), because forever is such a long time! But I know, as I said here, that once the idea really get's into you, it takes no time to change, since we are committed to that, change is possible and fast!

5 - Honesta
6 - Sonhadora
7 - Inconformada
8 - Resmungona

2 - Continuing... with a mania for keeping everything! (I do not know how this can be summed up in one word!)
3 - Shy
4 - Nice
5 - Honest
6 - Dreamer
7 - Never satisfied
8 - Grouch
